€ 165Only a total of 7 volumes of this rare periodical, issued two-weekly, were published from 1890-1897. Lucien Linden was the younger son of Jean Jules Linden (1817-1898), Luxembourg botanical explorer, plant dealer at Luxemburg, director of the Jardin royal de Zoologie et d'Horticulture, Brussels. Continuing his activities as plant introducer and dealer both in Brussels and Gent in his firms Compagnie continentale d'horticulture and l'Horticulture internationale. Lucien Linden succeeded his father in 1876. In 1876 Le journal des orchidées and l'Illustration horticole, both published by Linden, were discontinued and merged into Linden's new periodical La semaine horticole.
