The original two volumes of Index Kewensis, not offered here, were published from 1893-1895 and contained nearly 400.000 names. Some 6.000 additional names were added annually in supplements which were published at 5-yearly intervals. The latest twentieth supplement as a book was published in 1996.

"Another work of far-reaching influence was his "Philosophia botanica" which he dictated to his pupil Löfling while recovering from a severe illness … It was this volume which J.J. Rousseau declared had "more wisdom in it than the biggest folios, in it there is not a single useless word," … It was printed abroad ten times and translated into German, English, French and Spanish" (Jackson). The rare first edition with the mostly lacking portrait of Linnaeus by J.M. Bernigeroth.
